A three-point perspective drawing is a drawing that uses three vanishing points to create the illusion of depth. Two of the vanishing points in this drawing are located at the two ends of a horizontal line and one vanishing point is located on the vertical line, above or below the horizon line. The lines and objects are expected to converge and become smaller as they draw near the three vanishing points. Understanding the rules and concepts of this perspective drawing helps an artist draw a scene with objects appropriately sized out.
How to Make a Three-Point Perspective Drawing of Buildings from Bottom View
1.Draw a horizontal and a vertical line.
2. Mark the three vanishing points. Two points at each end of the horizontal line and one point at the vertical line. After identifying the vanishing points, draw two diagonal lines, one line connected from the vertical vanishing point to the right vanishing point, and the other line connected from the vertical vanishing point to the left vanishing point.
3. Draw the first building at the center of the scene. Tips: (1) To draw the height of the building or any vertical-diagonal lines, refer to the vanishing point at the center.; (2) a diagonal line that draws towards the right side should converge towards the right vanishing point; and (3) a diagonal line that draws towards the left should converge towards the left vanishing point.
4. Draw other buildings following the concepts of three-point perspective.
5. Draw the details of each building.
